San Angelo ISD Reminds Parents of School Telemedicine Program Partnership with Shannon Health

As we start the 2022-2023 school year this Wednesday, August 17, 2022, San Angelo ISD wants to remind our families of a partnership with Shannon Health to bring Shannon’s School Telemedicine Program to SAISD campuses. With the Shannon School Telemedicine Program, your student can get the care they need while remaining on their campus without making a trip to an urgent care clinic and missing important instructional time.

Shannon’s School Telemedicine Program allows your student to see a local, Shannon Health doctor through computer and video technology in their campus nurse’s office. Using specialized equipment, Shannon Pediatric Clinic providers can listen to your students heart, look into their ears and throat and assess any other symptoms. Parents are informed prior to each visit and are able to listen to their students' appointments via phone. Your students' visit information will then be available to view in their Shannon MyChart portal.

The Shannon Telemedicine Program can virtually treat illnesses that would normally require a visit to an urgent care clinic for including:

  • Earaches
  • Abrasions and scrapes
  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • Coughs and colds
  • Head lice
  • Rashes and minor skin infections
  • Pink eye

Parents must complete the registration paperwork to enroll their student into the Shannon Telemedicine Program. Registration paperwork is available from your campus nurse or online in English and Spanish on the Shannon Health website at www.shannonhealth.com/schoolhealth. Once the registration packet is complete, please return it to your campus nurse.

There is no cost to enroll in this program. If your student has a telemedicine visit while on campus, Shannon Health will bill your insurance and any required copay amounts after the visit. Those without insurance will receive a self-pay discount and be billed after the visit.

San Angelo ISD appreciates the support and collaboration with Shannon Health in providing this unique opportunity to our students and families. To stay up-to-date on San Angelo ISD, please visit the SAISD website at www.saisd.org and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
