San Angelo ISD Celebrated New SAISD Difference Makers with Welcome, Tailgate-Style Event

San Angelo ISD, students and community partners welcomed approximately 130 new educators and staff Tuesday morning with cheers, drumline music and fun at a tailgate-style, celebratory event held outside SAISD’s San Angelo Stadium. SAISD is proud to welcome the new SAISD Difference Makers to the team with the fun event kicking off three days of professional learning support and development.

“It is our pleasure and great honor to fully welcome all new San Angelo ISD professionals to our New to the SAISD Team Tailgate. One thing that definitely sets San Angelo apart from other communities is our strong community partnerships,” said Dr. Farrah Gomez, SAISD Deputy Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer. “Not only are we excited to welcome these new staff members to our district, we are equally eager to connect them with our community resources. This event allows us to do both. We extend our genuine appreciation to all of our partners who were able to come out and join us.”

Community partner supporters of public education and all SAISD school campuses and departments lined the event walkway to cheer on the new SAISD educators and staff, and to welcome new campus and department team members to the district and, in some instances, to the San Angelo community. Other event attendees included SAISD Board of Trustees, San Angelo Schools Foundation members, and community partners like Angelo State University, Howard College, DESK (Donate Educational Supplies for Kids) and McDonald’s, H-E-B, Whataburger, Kona Ice of San Angelo, 94.7 KIXY-FM and more.

“Education is the foundation of a community and the strength of that foundation comes from great staff and teachers supporting our kids. Howard College loves having the opportunity to show our appreciation of our partners in education at SAISD,” said Kaitlyn Brosch, Howard College Director of Student Life, Marketing, and Outreach.

Following the welcome event, new SAISD educators and staff participated in three days of professional learning in advance of the school year. The SAISD 2022-2023 school year begins Wednesday August 17, 2022. Enrollment for new and returning students is available online at www.saisd.org/enroll.

We look forward to seeing the great work of our new team members and their contributions to growing the hopes and dreams of our students this school year, and to see how they each join in making a difference at SAISD.
