Central High School Announcements

Central Students Only, Grace and Grub is serving FREE LUNCH at Emmanuel Episcopal Church located just a few blocks away on 3 S Randolph St. They will have a Supreme Nacho bar!

Come join FCA today during the second half of lunch in the film room, upstairs in the D-Gym. Alexi will bring an encouraging message from God’s word. Enter your name in a drawing to win big prizes! Must be present this week and next to win! Questions? Ask any FCA leader or Mrs. Olson in Carlyle 114. See you there!

Central Students, we will begin the process of nominating for favorites in your English classes this week.  If you do not have an English class, go by Ms. Folks’ room, Schweitzer 106, or Mr. McSpadden, Carlisle, 113 between classes.  The Favorites Ceremony will be held Monday February 27th

Student Council members we will have a mandatory meeting next Monday January 30th the first part of lunch in the library.  We will be discussing Valentine’s and our group photo.  If you cannot attend, please go by Ms. Folks room Schweitzer 106 sometime this week.

Central will be hosting a Preview CHS evening for current 9th-11th graders on February 2nd from 5:30-7 PM. Please join us to hear all about Central, our AP courses, Howard and ASU Dual Credit courses, and booths for all our organizations and activities on campus. Several colleges and military branches will also be on site. We look forward to seeing you!!

Hey Central! Book and Movie Club will be hosting a screening of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express in the library today January 26th after the final bell! All are welcome to attend, there is an entrance fee of $2 for non-members, and popcorn will be provided! Remember, Book and Movie Club meets every other week in Carlyle 122, we would love to see you there.

Your Bobcats gymnastics team placed 1st in a district tri-meet with Abilene Cooper and Abilene high this past weekend in the James R. White gymnastics gym. Placing for the Bobcats:

Logan Kypfer – 4th floor and vault, 1st pommel horse, 5th rings and parallel bars, 3rd high bar, and all around. Tyler Duncan – 7th floor, pommel horse, and high bar, 1st rings, 6th parallel bars, and 5th all around. Eli Soto – 6th rings, 4th parallel bars, 5th high bar, and 6th all around. Brady Stewart – 3rd floor and vault. 8th rings and high bar. Julian Torres – 4th floor, 7th rings, 5th vault, and 8th parallel bars. Zac Bayer – 8th floor and vault. 7th parallel bars. Cadyn Stuart – 8th pommel horse and vault. Miguel Flores-Acton – 6th pommel horse and 2nd high bar. Adam Williams – 8th pommel horse. The Bobcats next competition will be the Mark Williams invite in Euless. WAY TO COMPETE BOBCATS!

Over the weekend, the Lady Cats Gymnastics Team hosted and defeated the Abilene, Cooper and Wylie schools. The Lady Cats took all the top awards, medaling for the Cats were as follows:

Junior Mariel Harzke tied for 1st placed on vault and took top 1st place on Bars, Balance Beam, Floor Exercise and took the top honor in the All-Around. Freshman Steely Young tied for 1st on vault and placed 2nd on bars, beam floor and in the All Around Sophomore Harley Orellana placed 4th on vault, 5th on bars, 3rd on beam, 5th on floor and 4th in the all-around Freshman Gracie Foster placed 6th on bars, 4th on beam, 3rd on floor and 5th in the All-around And Sophomore Haley George placed 4th on vault, beam and floor Congrats Lady Cats! The Lady Cats will host the Odessa Bronchos and Permian Panthers on February 4th at 11:00 am in the gymnastics building. Sic ‘em Cats

“We would like to extend a HUGE congratulations to Greg Faught, bassist in the Central Orchestra, who this last weekend was ranked 1st bassist in the state! Next month, Greg will perform with in San Antonio as the principal bassist for the TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra. Way to go Greg! Your hard work has certainly paid off!

Shannon Health Hosts Four Part Symposium for SAISD Seniors Interested in a Future in Healthcare

San Angelo ISD is proud to announce a unique partnership with Shannon Health, the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Division, Howard College, and Angelo State University to offer an exclusive four-part symposium series, the Shannon Health Science Symposium Series, to SAISD high school seniors following a Health Sciences pathway and interest. The first part of the symposium series was hosted on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Howard College and focused on introducing students to health care careers paths right here in San Angelo with Shannon Health.

Five SAISD Students Named All-State Musicians by Texas Music Educators Association

San Angelo ISD proudly celebrates five students from Central High School and Lake View High School who reached the highest level a high school musician can achieve through the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) by earning the distinguished honor of TMEA All-State in band, orchestra, and choir.
